Soap Making Classes
Nearly a decade ago, Winter learned the art of soap making from a master soapmaker in Vermont. Each spring and fall, she hosts soap making classes drawing participants from around the country who wish to learn traditional methods of making natural soaps by hand.
Have you ever wanted to learn to make soap? The best way to learn is by doing it yourself with the guidance of an experienced soap maker! Our intensive, hands-on classes will cover aspects of soapmaking including: ingredients and sources, process, finishing, and design techniques. The Sleepy Moon soapmakers will help you create cold-process soap using ingredients selected for their beneficial skin-care and aromatherapy properties. You’ll take home over 1 pound of soap!
Our next round of classes will be held on April 10 and May 1, 2010.
Beginner’s Cold-Process Soap Making : April 10, 10-12:30
In our intensive, hands-on, beginner’s class you will learn how to make handmade, cold-process soaps using pure vegetable oils, botanical infusions, nutrients, herbs, spices & pure essential oils.
Beginner’s Cold-Process Milk Soaps : May 1, 10-12:30
This class will focus on using dairy milks such as buttermilk and goat’s milk, and veggie milks like almond and rice milk to create creamy, rich, natural soaps. The process of making milk soaps is often a difficult process for soapmakers to master. Learn techniques to demystify the creation of milk soaps as you make and take your own milk soap. (No prior soapmaking experience necessary)
